Girls Are Taking Over The World

Ayla tends to have a huge influence on what happens within the Rosas household.  I'm guessing it's for many reasons, but mainly because she's the oldest child and the bossiest.
On Wednesdays I take advantage of Tio Elton's day off and would usually try to go to Sprouts kidless.  One particular Wednesday when I left them in Elton's care I came home to Ahrian without pants, Ayla's shoes and socks on.  He was quite proud of his attire! I'm not sure what was worse, Ahrian's choice of outfit or the fact that Tio Elton helped him put it on.
Even though Ahrian gets roped into many girl play, he is still all boy and loves to build and put things together.
Ayla on the other hand, she's all girl!!!
Even baby Greyson gets roped into playing with Ayla's dolls.

Ahrian has been obsessed with putting things down his shirt/onesie.  I find some very interesting things when it comes time to change his diaper or get ready for bed. Ayla is of great help and goes right along with it many times.

Tio Elton's Barber Shop

Somehow Elton convinced me that he could cut Ahrian's hair.  I was quite the nervous wreck and eventually left the kitchen only to come back and take the occasional picture.  I have always been emotionally attached to my little man's curls and that is why I've usually kept it longer.  However, since Elton's wedding was coming up it was time to get it cut.  He couldn't look like the child of Napoleon Dynomite and Pedro at the wedding.
Oh my, momma is sure going to miss those curls!
No longer my baby, but a handsome little boy!
Curls or no curls, he still melts my heart!

Dia de Los Tres Reyes Magos

Milton and I decided that we would like to continue his childhood family tradition of the Dia de Los Tres Reyes Magos (Three Kings' Day). We do not celebrate Santa since we would like to keep the focus on Jesus Christmas Day and then the 3 Wisemen on January 6th.
On the night of January 5th we had the kids leave out a pair of their shoes.  We told them that the 3
Wisemen would be bringing them gifts like they did for our Savoir when he was born.
That morning they woke up to a great surprise.  A Step 2 Cho Cho Wagon, pjs, bowling set, shoes and a medical set (Milton and I saved the gifts we had purchased for Christmas.  The kids didn't go without Christmas Eve and had plenty from family and friends).  I always love seeing Ayla's face since she is so expressive!

The older Kusko gets the more restless he is at night.  I think he is definitely starting to feel the aches of his old bones and gets up to rearrange himself and his bed many times a night.  Which usually ends him in the middle of the living room each morning.  So, he was happy to be in the midst of all the excitement.
They kept jumping from one caboose to the next.
Later that evening when we had dinner with Milton's siblings where we celebrated the day by eating a Rosca (Mexican Sweetbread that is in the shape of a wreath). Inside the Rosca is several plastic baby Jesus'.  For those who get a Jesus in their slice of Rosca they have to by tamales, which will be eaten at a later family gathering.
It was a good start to traditions that we look forward to continuing and passing on to our children.

The Final Gift Exchange

Eric and Vanina spent Christmas in Utah with his family, so when they returned the day after Christmas we had another gift exchange for the kids and a white elephant exchange between the adults.
Ahrian still wasn't feeling quite himself so he still continued to cuddle with anyone who would hold him. Ayla was again the gift giver and wantd to help everyone open their presents.
One thing that we definately know how to do is get together as a family, eat food and have a good time!

A Groggy Christmas Day

Christmas Day was a very sleepy and groggy day for everybody.  When kids are involved sleeping in doesn't happen (at least with our kids).
Ayla changed her outfit at least 10 times that day.  I think she was quite excited and overwhelmed with all the new clothes she got.

Aunt Ray Ray (Rachel) sent both kids super capes. Ahrian's has the Batman symbol on the otherside and Ayla's has a princess crown.
Grandpa spent some time on the floor with Ahrian playing with the building blocks that Grandpa and Grandma gave him.
Other than playing many games of Sequence and the kids enjoying all their gifts it was a very relax kind of day. The days of being able to handle staying up that late are long gone.

Rosas/Anderson Christmas Eve

We had a very full house for Christmas.  Those who were here for the Christmas Eve party were both sets of Grandparents, McKelle, Gerson, Heidi, Greyson, Elton, Jeannie and Heidi's parents.  We did the Rosas family's tradition of eating a late dinner Christmas Eve, which consisted of Milaneses, Enchiladas de Mole, Sangria and all the typical condiments.
After we had dinner we played several games, such as Sequence, which is a family favorite.
Poor Ahrian had a high fever from teething and swollen lymph nodes.  He was quite miserable the entire night but many enjoyed cuddling with the sick boy.

Another Rosas tradition is opening presents at midnight.  I did put Ahrian down for a nap shortly after dinner since I knew he wasn't going to make it to the gift exchange otherwise.
Ayla was the center of attention (as always) by handing each individual their present and even helping them unwrap it.
There was so many presents that it took quite some time to get through them all.  By the time everyone was getting ready to go to bed it was 2:30 am. I have no idea how the kids managed to stay awake so late!

And Let the Christmas Begin...

We were blessed to get to spend the Christmas season with both sides of the family (minus Kathryn, Rachel, Brandon and their families).
We spent Sunday evening at Justin and Celeste's for dinner and gift exchanges.  Ayla and Ahrian were spoiled, as always!  I love that despite both Milton and I being from Utah we do get to spend most Holidays with family.
